TRIATHLON SOUTH TRAINING SQUAD

To provide quality training and coaching options for our members. Our coaching values are based around integrity, respect, accountability, sportsmanship and safety.

Training Calendar

There will be four sessions a week starting Monday 7 August 2017.  The first week is FREE, so come along and train in the company of others and meet our coaches.

Monday evening:

  • Swim Squad @ Clarence Aquatic Centre – 6:30 pm

Thursday morning:

  • Swim Squad @ Clarence Aquatic Centre – 6:00 am

Thursday evening:

  • Run Squad @ Hobart Cenotaph – 5:30 pm

Sunday morning:

  • Ride @ Seven Mile Beach – 8:30 am (from shop)

 

The Squad

Training with Triathlon South is a focused and structured process designed to achieve success. Our training is strategic, measurable, methodical and progressive; it will increase your capacity and ability to achieve your goals.

  • Do you have a goal race coming up in three (3), six (6), twelve (12) months’ time and need help to guide you to your goal?
  • Have you reached a high level of performance and want to move to the next level?
  • Do you want more input and feedback into your training and racing?
  • Are you looking for long term goal setting and support?
  • Have you very specific training and racing goals and need the support of an experienced and successful coach to help you achieve them?

How do I sign up?

The Triathlon South Training Squad is only open to club members. You can quickly and easily become a member by going to the Triathlon Australia website and ensure you select Triathlon South as your local club.

Already a club member, then this is what you need to do…

Just come along to any or all of our training sessions that start the week of Monday 7 August- IT’S FREE!

The week starting the 14 August, it will be $10 per session (pay to the Coach at the start of the session), or $20 per week direct debit. To set up your automatic direct debit payments, click on the button below and follow the instructions.

Meet our Coaches

Christian Farley
  • M. Sports Coaching (Master’s Degree in Sports Coaching)
  • Triathlon Australia Performance Coach (Level 2)

  • Level 2 Fitness Professional (Fitness Australia)
  • Certified Personal Trainer

Christian has a Master’s Degree in Sports Coaching, and has been involved in Triahtlon since the 1980’s as a second-generation Ironman Athlete. He has completed events such Ironman Australia, Ironman WA, Webber Multisport Challenge. Christian has been coaching triathletes for more than decade, and includes Hawaii Ironman qualifiers, Triathlon Australia Age Group representatives, Elite Juniors, and weekend warriors who dreamed of achieving something extraordinary.

Christian works with Triathlon Australia’s High Performance Unit to undertake Athlete and Result analysis and also worked with the Australian Under 19 and Under 23 Juniors competing in the National ITU Events, analysing the National High Performance time trial and event data. This work also included coaching at National Junior U19 Camps. He works closely with the Tasmanian ITU Juniors, and has been a contributor to magazine publications such as Australian Triathlete.

Pete McKenna

Peter is open and approachable in his coaching, specialising in beginners and those who are looking for fun and fitness. He is dedicated to increasing his knowledgebase, and putting these learnings into a practical environment.

Peter loves participating in triathlon, from super sprint through to Ironman and recently completed Cairns Ironman in June 2017.

Lee Taylor
  • Triathlon Australia Development Coach (Level 1)

Lee has been competing in triathlons since 2002 over all distances, from sprint distance to Ironman, and has been selected to represent Australia on numerous occasions to compete in world championships from sprint through to Ironman 70.3 and ITU Long Course.

He coaches athletes of all ages and abilities including junior elites and age group to world championship competitions in all distances. Have also coached athletes for individual sports such as running and for multisport competitions.
