Where do we race?

Triathlon South are hosting this event in the seaside location of Seven Mile Beach, in the Clarence Municipality, which is adjacent to the Hobart Airport and approximately 15 minutes drive to the City of Hobart.

The success of previous races at this venue has cemented this unique event in our summer calendar and what better way to enjoy this beautiful part of Tassie.

Who we are grateful to:

This event is sponsored by The Queens Head Hotel Hobart which is situated in the trendy suburb of North Hobart, a popular hub of dining and entertainment venues. The Queens Head is North Hobart’s home of great food, live music and cold beverages. It offers accommodation options and family friendly dining. All rooms are ensuite and have tea and coffee making facilities. The Queens Head Hotel offers special rates to the Triathlon community, please contact them direct for a super deal.

Each year Triathlon South, Tasmania’s biggest triathlon club, runs over 10 events over two series, catering for young and old triathletes of all abilities and those new to the sport and those who have been coming back for over 15 years. These events are also a great social experience for many, with support crews (and some begrudging family members) joining the participants with their enthusiasm and encouragement as they go through Transition or complete a loop.

This year, we extend our welcome to those who want to do it as a work team! Look around you at work. Do you hear the runner, the rider, and the swimmer talking about their weekend, or do you know those that could and would, only if they had the opportunity?

We are issuing the challenge to Tasmanian businesses to put forward their best, most daring, most committed . . . or just those who want to take their fitness goals to the next level as part of a Triathlon Team to win the inaugural Ray White Hobart Corporate Teams Triathlon Challenge.

If this is going to be an ambition, and you want some help, we have some great support you can work with. Peter McKenna is a qualified triathlon coach, who can do the serious stuff, but also the social stuff, check out “Try a Tri” on Facebook and send Peter a message to get involved.

Roches Beach on the outskirts of Hobart is held on a spectacular course, featuring a beautiful beach swim, a winding, spectacular mountain bike course (home to hundreds of wallabies) and finishing with a great X-Tri run course. This great event requires you to pack your swim cap and shoes as usual, but grab the dualie instead (or anything that will safely get you up and down those single tracks). It is time to invite your Meehan, Maydena or Derby inner beast to a triathlon. Yep, time to let the legs burn on the way up, and enjoy the flow on the way down.

The distances and course have been tweaked to make it more consistent with other World Qualifying Events across Australia so with your summer training and racing in full swing, this event is both perfectly designed and timed. Plus, a X-Duathlon is also included in the event. So, if a swim is not your thing, then enter the run/ride/run version. Also, this year the run course for Sprint will loop back through Transition making it a great spectator’s event as well. Bring everyone with you

Helping us make it happen is Ray White Hobart. We are super grateful to our major sponsor for this event. Remember to check out Ray White Hobart if you are thinking of buying or selling real estate.

The AGM is a requirement of our Club status and we encourage any interested Member to come along to ensure we not only meet our AGM reporting obligations, but also to let you know how we have done and what we plan for the upcoming Season. We will also provide information for the upcoming season, including dates & distances. The AGM is also an opportunity for you to nominate for a specific Board role, or join the General Committee, to assist the club to run its events for the 2021-22 Season.

The agenda is:

  • President’s report
  • Secretary’s report
  • Treasurer’s report
  • Election of the 2021-22 Office Bearers (the Board), and the General Committee (up to 6 people).
  • 2021-22 Race Calendar
  • Other business
  • Questions.

If you are a Club member, please come and be part of the discussion about your club, and if interested, put your hand up to take on a role and be part of the driving force behind our events. New members on the Board/Committee provides for new ideas and ways of thinking, and can only benefit the Club for everyone, so please consider being part of the team. No specific experience is necessary – just a desire to help.

Shout out to all female club members… the Committee is way under-represented by females, with only one current member. It would be great to address this imbalance in 2021-22, so please consider if you can spare a small amount of time to contribute to our wonderful club.

If you would like to have a chat to someone about nominating for a role on the Board/Committee, please email us and someone will give you a call back, triathlonsouth@gmail.com
