Race Guides

The Club's events take place at Seven Mile Beach, Roches Beach, Orford and the Derwent Entertainment Centre. This page describes each of these venues and the usual course we would set up for each type of race, for example, triathlon, duathlon, cross-triathlon, multisport etc.

Venue: 7 Mile Beach

Race course description for Triathlon and Duathlon events at Seven Mile Beach.

With the airport extension and realignment of Surf Road, which now veers onto a new road – Greuber Avenue – and exits out onto Holyman Drive, our usual 7 Mile Beach course from Day Use Area #1 is now changed. Day Use Area #2 provides the best option taking into consideration safety and transition management.

The Race Information Guide for the Queens Head Hotel State Sprint Championships 2020 on the new course at Seven Mile Beach is now available to download.

The closure of Surf Road around Day Use Area #2 provides an opportunity to race on a truly closed road (at least until the Pittwater Road intersection). The Committee are keen to take advantage of this by looking at the opportunity to provide kids triathlon races (under 13’s) at this venue.

Venue: Roches Beach (road tri)

Due to stricter permit conditions, the club can no longer offer road triathlon from this venue.

Venue: Orford

Due to stricter permit conditions and the cost of running this event by a volunteer-based club, we can no longer offer this triathlon as a viable option.

Venue: The DEC

Race course description for Duathlon events at the Derwent Entertainment Centre (the DEC), Glenorchy.

In 2019, all races in the Clennett’s Mitre 10 Winter Duathlon Series will take place at the DEC. The updated course map is available to view and it is recommended all competitors take time to get an understanding of the course prior to race start.

The two distances on offer are:

  • SPRINT: 5.0km run (4 laps)  |  18.9km ride (7 laps)  |  2.5km run (2 laps)
  • ENTICER: 2.5km run (2 laps)  |  8.1km ride (3 laps)  |  1.25km run (1 lap)

When the weather is at its worst, the DEC can be a rather exposed venue, so please dress appropriately and have a change of dry warm gear to put on after racing (e.g. beanie, puffer and uggies are recommended).

The dates for the 2019 Clennett’s Mitre 10 Winter Duathlon Series are:

  • 25 August 2019
  • 29 September 2019
  • 20 October 2019, and
  • 10 November 2019.

The event takes place on Kingston Beach, i.e. beach run. Transition will be set up on the shore, closer to the southern end of the beach (as if heading to Blackmans Bay). Please review the event guide for all details for the 2018 event. Look out for the Triathlon South trailer parked near transition if you are unfamiliar with Kingston Beach.
