Without our committed volunteers who turn up at every event we cannot race – you, me, your partner, your child, your best buddy… we are all dependent on our volunteer army. A core group of these wear the coloured Hawaiian shirts, and these are the wonderful members of Variety the Children’s Charity Tas.

Whether they are writing race numbers on your body in permanent marker, standing at a turn point with a smile and a friendly word, or yelling out your numbers at the timing chute, they bring a special feel to our race day experience.

Triathlon South has had an association with Variety Tas for 4 years and in the past the club has donated over $6000, aiding Variety’s goal of supporting kids and families in Tasmania.

At race number 2 of our Queens Head Hotel Triathlon Series in February, President of the Club, Peter Barrett, invited Mohammad Aldergham, the CEO of Variety the Children’s Charity Tas to say a few words about the work of the Charity, and accept  a cheque from Triathlon South for $2,000 to put towards all the great work they do, acknowledging the commitment of their members to help us out with our races.
